I Want to Know (The Slam)

Its like these eyes have seen it all.
Seen it being built and seen it fall.
I've heard music from different walls,
Now I wonder which one will fall like Jericho...

Smoke and beating of African drum rolls,
We're now picking up phone calls with caller tones...
"Hey, hello...no sweet, I'm in church".
Now my mind's back home.
*twitch*
I seem to have a *twitch*
There you go *twitch*
So I'll try not to get myself excited,
blinded or sun sighted.
Be focused and single minded,
Drag a mountain and climb it..
But with the strings of life
It's like I've already tried it!
*twitch* Life at night gets me so frightened
I often find myself tired and running
from giants that would have left David grounded.
And my success is hindered *twitch* by this rock were fear is founded.
So in chains I'm bounded, hurdle surrounded..
Why does it feel like I'm not *twitch* fighting!

Time is an ethereal and sometimes a cruel goddess
In her relentless passing.
She steals away our vitality,
Often in ways that seem insignificant.
Until we realize how much she taken,
She is also a generous deity
Who offer to replace that which she has taken;
With a deeper wisdom and clearer vision of life' enigmas.

Though no one can go back and make a brand new start.
Anyone can star now and make a brand new ending.

It doesn't *twitch* interest me what you do for a living.
I want to know if you what you ache for.
If you can dare to dream of meeting your hearts longing.
It doesn't interest me how old *twitch* you are.
I want to know if you can risk looking like a fool
For love, for you dream, and the adventure of being alive.
It doesn't interest me what planets are squaring your moon.
I want to know if you have touched the center of your own sorrow.
If you have been *twitch* open by life' betrayals
Or have become shriveled up from fear of further pain.
I want to know if you can dance with wildliness
And let the ecstasy fill you to the tips of your fingers and toes
Without cautioning us to be carefully realistic,
Or remember the limitations *twitch* of being human.
It doesn't interest me if the the story you are telling is true.
I *twitch* want to know if you can disappoint another to be true to yourself.
If you can bare the accusation of betrayal and not betray your own soul.
I want to know if you can see beauty,
Even when it is not pretty everyday,
And if you can source your life from its' presence.

There's just one consolation,
Ab hour here or there when our lives seem;
Against all odds and expectation
To burst open and us everything we've ever imagined.

It doesn't *twitch* interest me where you've been.
I want to know if you can take a moment,
And shape it into *twitch* a memory.
If you can rise from failure
And against all odds succeed.
I want to know if you can take a moment of youth,
And nature it into future's growth.
Be the change that you want to see in the world.
